  • Nathan Sommers Jacobs has recently become affiliated with Genesys Works and the firm has hired high school senior Abigail Aleman through the program. On October 10, 2012, we hosted a table at the Genesys Works Breakfast and we also attended the organization's Breaking Through 2012 celebration on October 22. Shareholder Marvin Nathan serves on the Genesys Works national Board of Directors.
  • Nathan Sommers Jacobs was a sponsor at the 2012 Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Houston Awards Dinner on October 10, 2012. The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is the nation’s oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships to children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen, with particular attention given to those whose parent has been killed or wounded in combat, or who have demonstrated financial need.
  • The University of Houston Law Center and Anti-Defamation League program entitled "Racists, Bigots and the Law on the Internet" to be held on October 4, 2012 from 3-5 PM, will be underwritten by Nathan Sommers Jacobs. The program is free and open to the public and will focus on social, policy and legal issues related to online hate. Gretchen McCord (Bankruptcy and Workout), Ron Sommers (Bankruptcy and Workout), George Gibson (Commercial Litigation) and Marvin Nathan (Real Property) all made the distinguished list. 
  • To find up and coming talent for its summer clerks program, Nathan Sommers Jacobs participated in the University of Texas Law School on Campus interview program on August 23, 2012.

  • Nathan Sommers Jacobs has renewed its lease of 17,057 square feet of office space in Houston's Williams Tower building.

  • Nathan Sommers Jacobs' 2012 summer clerkship program commenced. The firm hired three law students this summer. Each clerkship is for a five week period.

  • Nathan Sommers Jacobs is once again participating in the HBA/CIS Summer Legal Internship Program. This program provides an opportunity for academically outstanding CIS students to participate in an eight-week work program and a mock trial presided by a Harris County District Judge. 
  • As part of our new Associates Volunteer Initiative, Nathan Sommers Jacobs associates worked with Habitat for Humanity on June 2, 2012, helping to build houses for families in the Houston area.

  • Nathan Sommers Jabobs attended the HYLF/HYLA Law Day Luncheon on May 1, 2012, at Houston's Four Seasons Hotel. The firm also sponsored a table at the event, which featured speaker Talmage Boston, author of Raising the Bar.

  • Nathan Sommers Jacobs is pleased to announce the addition of two new associates, Sarah Heep and Jason Antrican. Each is an alumnus of the firm's summer clerkship program. Sarah is a graduate of Texas Tech School of Law. She works with the firm's banking section. Jason earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He joins the firm's litigation section.

    • Nathan Sommers Jacobs received the Extra Mile Award from the Anti-Defamation League for its participation in the Southwest Region's Community of Respect® Initiative. The award recognizes "the best of the best Community of Respect® partners for their extraordinary efforts and outreach while building a Community of Respect®." The firm was one of only four partners to win the award in 2010.
